Cheshire location advice

Hi All,

Hope all is well. I would really appreciate your advice on the best Cheshire location for our circumstances :)

Currently we live in Crosby but would like to move to a bigger, ideally deatched 4 bed house. We have a 1 year old so good primary and secondary schools are important to us.

My wife works in North Liverpool and I work in Macclesfield. We will both be doing up to 3 days a week in the office.

We love Cheshire and logistically Northwich looks like a happy medium with commute taking circa 40 min each way when you can beat the traffic. We liked Hartford village which also has a new Redrow development. We would like to stay within 1 hour or so from the larger cities in Liverpool and Manchester.

Is Northwich and surrouning area nice? Would commute be ok?

Please feel free to offer other locations as we're quite flexible.

Thanks in advance!

Any thoughts please? Maybe it's not the right place for this post?

Have you ever tried Northwich to Crosby at the time you'd need to travel? I really wouldn't only give myself 40 minutes to do that commute.

What about Stockton Heath - a bit more equidistant? What kind of budget do you have?

Francua · 01/09/2021 10:37

Thanks both for your replies. Budget would be up to 500k. The work is actually in the Knowsley area and should take around 40min depending on traffic.

SwedishEdith, would you say Stockton Heath is as nice as say Hartford? We would plan to keep new house for some time so nice area is important. We also prefer new builds and Hartford seems to have a nice Redrow development.

Have you looked at Davenham? Just outside Northwich - lovely village and great primary school. We lived there for 10 years and wish we still did.

NoLongerATeacher, Davenham is definitely on the radar however housing market seems to be slow at the moment

Warrington is definitely preferable to Northwich. It is much more easily accessible for Manchester and Liverpool with the M62, M6 and M56. It is also a much larger town with a lot more to do. Public transport networks are also much better in Warrington. (I know people say Stockton Heath isn't Warrington, but close enough for me Hmm)

Northwich is only really close to the M56. Anything in Liverpool direction would be awkward to get to. I used to drive from Chester to Northwich everyday and it took me 45 minutes in rush hour traffic. I can imagine Crosby being worse.

Don't know either to live in, just passing through but Stockton Heath is always mentioned on here as a nice place to live. Looking at Redrow's site, they have developments in Daresbury and in Warrington - I think they'd be better for travel than Hartford. The M56 often seems to get snarled up.

I'd also recommend stockton heath/Appleton area. Equidistant..Good transport links.
Great cafes, restaurants and beautiful walks from front door. It's got a lovely community feel. We are glad we made the move here. X
