Moving to Shrewsbury- countryside locations

Hello,

I've got a new job at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital so partner and I will be moving.

We don't have children but do have 2 dogs so we want to be in an area with either walking, or short drive access to lots of lovely dog walks, i.e. Woodlands, lakes, green spaces etc.

I would also like to be about a 30 min drive to the hospital (although would be willing to commute further if needed)

Any recommendations? Smile
Thank you!

A relative works at the hospital and moved to Church Stretton.

You're spoilt for choice really. Shrewsbury itself has a beautiful big park on the river that is very dog friendly. There's Haughmond Hill, the Wrekin, Ironbridge, Nescliffe, Church Stretton, Wenlock Edge.. so many places. Telford has plenty of nature reserves and walks too.

It depends if you want to live more rural, in a village or in a town. That's the thing with Shropshire, everything is pretty easy to get to. I hope your move goes well 🙂.

Ellesmere is about 30mins away. It has a lake (but don't call it a lake to the locals, call it the mere ha). Nice walks.

Whittington is also an option. Good travel route to Shrewsbury. A few miles from Ellesmere.

Would you be based at Shrewsbury or Telford? That will affect where you might live.

Near Shrewsbury, Bayston Hill is on the edge of your but also in the countryside. Pontesbury is a lovely village community.

Haughmond, Nescliffe, Lyth Hill, Church Stretton area, the Wrekin, Grinshill are all within easy reach for walks.
