Tonbridge Safe Area

Hi,

My husband and our 2 y.o daughter are planning move from London to Tonbridge, Kent in the Higham Wood area (close to the Tonbridge Methodist Church). Even though Tonbridge is a pretty safe and desirable place as far as I am aware, especially compared to London, I recently started having a few concerns about the criminality rates around that area in particular; as they seem slightly higher in comparison to other areas in Tonbridge (based on criminality statistics web sites). Is this a valid concern especially when you are planning to raise a little girl there? Does anyone live in Tonbridge and could offer an honest opinion please?

Thank you.

I used to live in Tunbridge Wells and went to School in Tonbridge and tbh none of Tonbridge seemed particularly dangerous other than up Shipbourne Road area but this is going back a few years. I've got a friend who lives not too far from there and has done for 20+ years, she's got two tween boys and has never mentioned it being a bad area.

I don’t live in Tonbridge (but my daughter goes to school there). The Higham Wood area would not be somewhere I’d choose but that’s just from housing type preference and it being on the town outskirts. Never heard of it being a dodgy area, nor does Tonbridge feature more than other towns for crime in the local media.

It’s not the nicest part of Tonbridge but it’s ok I suppose.

I’d avoid the area around long mead park. There seem to be reports of teenage anti social behaviour now and then. Other than that, it’s pretty safe.
