Hi all, DH, DS (14 month old) and I (PG with second and due end 2021) have outgrown our flat in North London and have had an offer accepted on a house in Norbiton in KT1. We know (and like) Kingston town.
It is a truly lovely house on Kenley Road in KT1, but we are anxious as it is one of the nicer houses on the road and we don’t know the immediate surrounding area/roads (Arundel, Revel, Dickerage) - parts of which seem less cared for than others. The few times we’ve gone past the Triangle area, we have seen quite a few unsavoury types (not sure how reflective that is of the area though?) DH also has concerns about the wider area (Cambridge estate, etc.). We also visited Dickerage YMCA playground yesterday and it was filled with many under privileged families. I assume the local parks we’d frequent the most are Green Lane, Kingston Road, Athelestan and Richmond Park (20 mins walk). Also have eyes set on Coombe or Millie’s nurseries, and then Coombe infant/junior schools. I work for a local charity and DH is a lawyer (will commute into London from Norbiton station).
I would be ever so grateful if anyone help us with views on living/raising a family near Kenley Road, neighbouring roads/amenities, make-up of people (culture, ethnicities, socio-economic levels etc.). We don’t want to move and then realise we made a bad choice and then be forced to move again!
Thanks so much
Lottie
