Anyone tried that new coffee place in Whetstone? My mate reckons there's a really good play area for kids there?

Have heard that too - will try it this week and post. It has hideous branding - I cringe when I see that burgundy and yellow together!!

I've been a few times.. It's good but gets packed at the weekends and on Friday afternoon. I recommend a morning visit if you're going.

Where in Whetstone? D'you mean in the N20 centre or somewhere else? (Sorry, joining this thread a bit late!!)

MrsMattie · 11/02/2008 10:29

N20? I love it. Cafe / softplay. Best on weekdays and for younger children (under 7?) as it's quite small.

I would also love to know where this mysterious place is in Whetstone!!??

Do you mean coffee and tease? It is opposite M&S. Has a good play area but is horrible when busy. Also, to get into the play area you have to buy a £10 top up card which you can then use for coffee etc.

Agree it's AWFUL when busy and the kids all end up squabbling.

i think you mean 'coffee and tease' yes it has a rather strange name. I've been a few times but have never really liked it to be honest, it's quite crammed and hasn't really been thought out to be honest. There's no where you can put you're coffee as there are no tables. And I agree children end up fighting over toys when it gets busy

I think you should know a few things about this rat rap. It?s very, very dirty, both in the public and private areas and the food safety and cleanliness is terrible. The staff do not observe proper hygiene and the toilets are filthy with dirty nappies all over the place. They have infestation problems and the kids area get extremely hot or cold and they are unable to control the temperature. Also, all of the items sold are delivered frozen and most are over six months old. The owner of the coffee shop does not eat anything from there but goes to Marks & Spencer instead. That should tell you all you need to know. Oh and if that?s not bad enough, Barnet environmental health gave it two stars (check the website) because the place was so poorly managed and bad food practices were observed. It might have improved, but I doubt it. Oh, and you?re likely to get your car clamped and have to pay an £80 release fee, even if you park in their designated parking (as happened to a friend of mine). I knew someone who used to work here so I have the inside track on this place.
