Hiya - not sure if I'm in the right place here, a friend recommended this site and I've just joined.

I'm 29 weeks pregnant and have just moved to the Walsgrave area, I'm trying to find out about any antenatal yoga/exercise classes and any new mums support classes etc as I don't know a soul in the area! Also does anyone know much about antenatal care at the University hospital - I'm going to transfer my care there and they don't do visits so I'm totally blind!!!!

Thanks to anyone who can help at all

Helen x

Hi Helen

I am also on the lookout for antenatal yoga classes and have so far beeen unsuccessful in my search. I'm a member of the Esporta gym where they have a few classes pregnant women can join in. I'm starting aquafit and body balance next week. If anyone else can point us in the right direction it would be most welcome!

I'm afraid I'm the same boat as you, I'm having my first child and really don't know anything about antenatal care @ Walsgrave.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.
Rav.

My little girl is 4 months now and all Walsgrave offered was a 4 weeks of parent craft classes. Me and my partner went, but we felt they wern't much use. The only thing that would have been good about them was if we had got a tour of the labor ward, but because of infection risks all we saw was a slideshow of it.

The care at the hospital was fantastic, may just of been because I was luck and the delivery suits are quite large and light. Just beware of room 4 it is apparently the 'hot' room and I got stuck in it for over 12 hours!

If you'd like to ask me any more questions about the hospital then feel free to ask.

Gemma

Hi both and huge thanks for your replies!!

Apparently I'm too late to get onto the classes there so I'm going to be going in blind to deliver- arrgghhhh

I asked my local midwife about yoga and she said the nearest are Leamington, I looked up the details of the lady who does them there and she's not restarting them til Jan and says she has a waiting list- I'm due end Jan/beginning Feb so not going to bother!

Rav- when are you due?

Gemma- they're still not doing visits to the wards due to infection risks.

Hope both of you and your little ones/bumps are ok

x

Hi Helen

Hope you are bump are doing well, not long for you to go now!

I'm due in May this year, seems to be coming round very quickly. I'm very intersted in the yoga classes in Leamington, any chance you could forward me the contact details for this place? if there is a waiting list sounds like i could be too late now anyway.

Decided not to find out what the sex of our baby is so sorry 3girlies.

Hi, I haven't posted on this site since i was first pregnant and finding it hard to kepe a secret! I'm expecting first baby around Feb 19, live in Longford and have just realised I will have no local mum friends!
I've been going to antenatal clinic at walsgrave because of previous kidney problems and have found all the staff, esp midwives, really lovely, so fingers crossed!
Re exercise classes, i too am a member at esporta and have been doing the body balance classes all the way through, the instructor has been really helpful in modifying exercises for me. Quite pricey though if you're not a gym bunny.
Anyone know any local mums and babies groups?

There is a friendly on on Broad st, Foleshill, just down the road from you, Mondays 10am, at the Baptist church. I try to get there when I can. I am told there is one at John Shelton Community centre on Thursday mornings, though I have not been. Will be trying to go to some myself, now Christmas is over.

Hi, sorry not beeing on here in MONTHS is anyone still out there?

I had a little girl on 30th Jan, we're in Walsgrave area and doing Peeps, baby massage and hopefully Rhytyhm kids shortly, am also planning to make it to one of the NCT bumps and babies one day...

Anyone with under ones who fancies peeps, it's a class in developmental play etc, lots of books, toys, singing and only £1 a session (it's surestart), it's really good fun and is at Wyken croft childrens centre on a Tuesday from 1.30pm (Wyken croft primary school)
