Home help for grandmother

Hello!

Wondering if anyone can help. My 90 year old grandma lives in Richmond, and nearest family (me) is about 80 minutes away. She has finally accepted that she needs some help at home - she has a cleaner but she needs someone to walk to Tesco with her, carry the shopping back, have a cup of tea together and then help her cook.

Does anyone know how / where I can help her find someone? Would a local Facebook group be good for this (I am not on it, but could join) or are there other places to look? In our village there is a community notice board and word of mouth would be the best option - but I am struggling to know how to go about it in an area I don’t know.

Contact SS and her GP surgery. Apply for attendance allowance, this could be use to fund care calls. Care companies can help with this and private carer may advertise locally. Local day services & organisation may also be able to help

You could try an agency like Home Instead. They're quite expensive but they're generally reliable.

I think Age UK Richmond should be able to help. There is a Kew neighbourhood association which provides a lot of the services you are looking for completely free, but I can't find a Richmond version. It may be that it's just not online, but the services your grandmother needs should be covered by a good community volunteer group and Age Concern should be able to point you in the right direction.

Another thought is Next door - but you would have to vet the people yourself, a community group will have already done this for you.
