Relocate to Bath

Anna120 · 13/06/2021 19:44

Hi all. We are thinking about relocating to Bath in a couple of years. At they point our youngest will be 4-5 so need somewhere with good schools but also (for the rest of us) within easy reach of all Bath has to offer. Any suggestions on which areas of bath and/or surrounding areas might be good to look at please? Any comments and advice is much appreciated.

What is your budget? How many bedrooms? Do you want city living, semi rural or rural? Will you need secondary schools?

Hi thanks for your comment
Our budget is around 600-800k and would need min 4bedroom and a garden. In a perfect world we would be on the outskirts of Bath with easy taxi drive (one stop on train kind of distance) or even walking distance (however not sure that would be possible).?
Yes eventually I’d need secondary school for my youngest but others will be out of school by the time we move.
We’re actually are going to Bath next week to carry on with our location search so if you have any suggestions on near villages or parts of Bath we should definitely consider please, please give them a mention.

My knowledge of the area is about the area to the west of Bath.
There is a lot of Duchy of Cornwall land and properties around Newton St Loe.
Saltford has a primary school but no secondary. It has a small wildlife park .
Keynsham is next towards Bristol. It's a market town with trains taking 10 minutes to Bristol or Bath and buses taking about 30 minutes to the bus stations in each city. There's also a bus service to Bristol Airport which goes from Bath with limited stops. The main employers are the council and Pukka Teas have their head office in the town. There's lots of different properties from listed buildings, apartments and new builds - mainly at Bilbie Green or Somerdale (the old Cadburys factory site).- and everything in between. Primary schools are St John's, St Keyna, Chandag, Castle, Somerdale and Two Rivers. Secondary schools are IKB, Wellsway, and Broadlands Academy.
