Crutches

Hi I am going into hospital shortly and will need crutches for a few weeks. As the operation is being paid by my private health care I have to pay for the crutches as these are not covered under the policy. I was wondering if anyone in Glasgow has crutches that they no longer use and that they have not been able to return to the NHS as yet that I could take off your hands.

Put a post on Facebook asking if anyone has any

Not local to you so I can't help you myself (unfortunately still on mine) but I've seen a few pairs offered free on my local fb marketplace

Is there a local branch of the Red Cross.? Ours loans things like wheelchairs and crutches in exchange for a donation.

I was loaned a mobility scooter for a couple of months after unexpected post op complications by our local Lions Club. This was in southwest England but I'm sure you have equivalent local support groups and charities. Meanwhile I passed on my NHS crutches and special knee shaped ice packs to other people who needed them locally via Facebook.

I bought some excellent crutches, better than the NHS ones for £25, you can even choose the colour. Argos do the ordinary ones for less than £20 or look on Ebay.

Thank you, I am not a big Facebook user so never thought of that. I will post (or get my daughter to post) on our local Facebook page. Failing that I will try Argos

Mine were from Complete Care Shop, you can buy from their website, they were £25 & have comfort grip handles on them, I got bright turquoise ones.
