Hi all,

I just noticed that nothing has ever been posted here and thought I would kick things off.

I'm coming up on 36 weeks pregnant with my first child and am looking for other women in my area (I'm in Stone) who can offer advice, support and friendship. I plan on breastfeeding so finding breastfeeding friendly restaurants and cafes is top priority for me at the moment.

So come on...get involved and tell me about yourself.

Summer

Hello everyone, I'm in Ashbourne which is a bit of a trek away from Stafford but its either that or Derby so I linked up to both! I'm only 5 weeks pregnant but its my first baby and other than my bf I'm quite isolated up here with no family and my friends are all over the country so noone local so looking for a bit of friendly support and advice! I'm currently on a nightmare of a commute to Yorkshire, three hours each way every day and I'm getting really tired of it!

Just wanted to say hi...

Hiya Mermibridg....

How comes you have to commute to Yorkshire every day? I was at uni in York & love it up there so much...hopefully one day I'll move back when all gets settled with LO and access from my ex.

Congrats on your little bean btw!!!

xx

Welcome Mermibridg! And congrats on your impending little one.

Merryandmad...it rained the entire time in the lakes, but it was still lovely and it was so nice to get away.

Hope you're all well

Hello All,
Has anyone been to Walsall Illuminations recently? We are thinking of taking our two dd's their this year. I remember it from when I was younger as slightly naff, has anyone got a more recent experience?
Thanks

Hi everyone,
To answer your question 'mybumpsaboy', I'm a consultant (read glorified data monkey :P) so I go where they send me. Normally I have the benefits of working at home and was at home for a good few months from when I started the job this year. I was supposed to only be up in yorkshire for July and August and then one day a week at home but it didn't happen like that. I am managing two juniors and they've extended my contract til end of November so I have to be there full time! We do sometimes stay up there for a week at a time but I like my own bed and own house and I have dog and two cats and it costs about £250 to put them all in kennels for a week. My only other option is to stay up there on my own in a dodgy B&B and I just can't face that so I'm commuting til then. My other half drives half the way and I drop him off at work and pick him up on the way back, but the travelling is exhausting!

I went to York Uni as well but it was some years ago now!

Hi

I am currently on maternity leave (only 2 weeks togo!)and wonder if there are any local groups where I can meet other mums to be in stafford apart from NCT groups?

merryandmad · 12/02/2009 22:22

There was a good mum and baby group at north walls clinic on a Friday- (opp Perfect pizza, behind marks and spencers).
I am still in touch with some mums I met there.
They used to have speakers come in (pelvic floor, weaning, reflexolgy etc), or have free chat sessions.
congratulations BTW- let us know any news x
