Henry Box or Bartholomew School?

Hi,

We are strongly considering a move somewhere west of Oxford as soon as we are able to this year. Husband needs a Trainline into London for 2/3 days a week so looking at west of Oxford.

Can anyone tell me about the Henry Box School please and also Bartholomew if you have experience of them? We really like Witney but feel put off by some reports of staff turbulence and morale issues at Henry Box. But it does offer a wide range of subjects.

I know nothing of Bartholomew other than I know it has an excellent reputation and is Ofsted outstanding. Is it hard to get into? We were looking at Church/Long Hanborough which seems to be within catchment.

I'd really appreciate your thoughts as it is a frustrating not being able to go and take a tour of the school/meet staff etc Our daughter hasn't had a great experience of secondary school so far so this has to be right. Our other daughter is due to start secondary school this September. So we would be looking at Years 7 and 10.

I realise this was posted a while ago, but it has to be said that the Henry Box school is not a good school at the moment. The students are utterly demotivated and incredibly disrespectful to staff, including senior staff. The school lacks any concrete behaviour policy which allows for all manner of bad behaviour, since there are zero consequences. Unfortunately, students get a bad deal, since little to no work is done in a lot of lessons and morale is low all round. It's a shame, because a simple behaviour policy and tighter discipline could turn the school around. Hope that helps.

Hi, my family and I moving from Singapore to Oxford in June.
My sons will be going into Year 10 & 8 in sept 22.

Please can anyone give feedback of their experience of the Secondary schools 🏫in the area for their children and the reasons.
I.e. Which one is the most academically driven?

Looking at: Bartholomew, Matthew arnold, Cherwell, John Mason, Larkmead, Fitzharrys (not decided on exact location to live yet)
