Hi all , I’m hoping to move home to either Biggleswade Sandy or St Neots in the next few months with budget of £230,000 ish . Kids are primary and secondary school age . Will be able to work from home mostly so travelling not a major issue for me .Any information on nice areas to buy a house and raise kids with good schools ,local kids activity clubs ie football etc.... would be really appreciated 🙂

Hi rosey what kind of house are you looking for? Biggleswade is most expensive, then sandy, then St Neots- I would say you’ll get more for your money in St Neots.

Lots of different things going on in St Neots, reasonable high street with some nice places to eat (in normal times) and a cinema. Have friends living there, schools can be hit and miss.

Biggleswade has good retail park with more development ongoing.

Hi , thanks for your reply I’m looking at 2/3 bedrooms and hopefully half decent size kitchen and living room .....yes it definitely seems you get more for your money in St Neots so I may just concentrate on that area . Have you any idea what eynesbury area is like as I’ve seen nice houses within my budget on Rightmove
Sorry for being a pest 🙂

Not a pest at all! Eynesbury is generally nice, unfortunately I don’t know anything more in depth around which areas are nice or which are not.

There is a large Tesco’s, Aldi, Lidl, B&M all V close by. Easy access to nice walks, good bus routes to Cambridge.

The secondary, Ernulf, has had a bad reputation but appears to be improving, I don’t know much more than that though.

Eaton Socon is perhaps a little nicer and very close by.

This has loads of potential and is in a nice area with good schools.

We live just outside St Neots. Absolutely love it. Eaton Socon is lovely albeit a little pricey but nothing wrong with Eynesbury. Just avoid Duck lane and around that area. Stick to the Parklands estate or the new houses by Tesco's. Riverside park is great and loads going on during normal times. Good train and road links and easy to get to Cambridge, Bedford, Milton Keynes and Peterborough. Lots of pretty villages around as well. Good luck with your search.

This is a lovely little cottage on a great road in Sandy, suspect too small for you.

Another lovely cottage, prob bigger, on busy road towards A1 north, not greatest position.

The other houses in your bracket in sandy and Biggleswade are on less desirable roads.

Def think you’ll get more for your money in ST Neots

I really like St Neots and it is on the guided busway. Last time I went to Bigglesware the town centre looked seriously run down so I'm guessing it is it's proximity to the motorway and trains that makes it more expensive?

amberexpat · 14/01/2021 14:04

We live in sandy, it’s been a lovely change from central London, but the longer we are here, I can see we wouldn’t stay. Happy to discuss more if you’d like to message me

Thanks for the reply ...I’m steering towards St Neots I think 🙂
