tier 4 from Dec26

My panicking friend is telling me to stock food now as stores will all close from Dec26 and since no planes from other countries are allowed to fly in there will be a shortage of foods. from my understanding, only non essential stores will close, meaning ASDA, Lidl stores will remain open and flights are still allowed in, just many countries are no longer accepting flights from UK. what are the facts?

There may be a shortage of perishable out-of-season fresh food like lettuce and mange tout but it would be foolish to "stock up" on such things precisely because they don't keep. Anything that there is a shortage of is stuff that we shouldn't really be eating in winter for environmental/food-miles reasons.
