P1 entrance assessment for George Heriot

DS didn't have a place in GH's nursery and will take the P1 entrance assessment next month. I don't want to bother you guys to share the detailed exam info (as it's probably not appropriate...), but I'll very much appreciate if any GH mums can help let me know whether your DC had already been able to read words/books by themselves and/or do some basic maths before the P1 entrance assessment , etc. (like any other study levels that they had got). Many thanks from a mum who always be nervous before all sort of exams

Hello, sorry if this response comes to late. I was in the same position as you. My DC's both went straight in to P1. The assessment was really relaxed, the DC went off with a teacher, had a chat and played some games. Neither was a good reader at this stage and I had not done any maths with them. I think at this point its about enthusiasm and inquisitiveness. Obviously the assessment might be a bit different this year. Good Luck

That’s good to know:) This year is a bit different indeed as we will use zoom for an online assessment so not sure whether this will affect the assessment contents or result... Not sure how my son will be like when he’s on his own in the room and in front of a video call for 20mins...

Sorry I know this is an old post. How did it go? My daughter did it as well and is starting in aug in p1, weird picking a school without seeing it though!
