Hi,
I'm after an insight into Ewell Castle School

I'm considering Ewell Castle School for Year 7 for my son currently in a state primary in Yr 5. He's really bright and also prepping for the grammars, sociable and confident but I feel he would benefit from the small classes to maximise his focus (he can get distracted quite easily). Pastoral care looks awesome and the general vibe but worried about the GCSE results/quality of teaching and the rep it has as a school for children who may have emotional/learning needs only. I have no issue with this as such but if this is actually the main focus of the school probably not quite right for him. Difficult to tell from the 'outside'. Any thoughts welcome

Hi there, we’ve been at Ewell Castle since nursery, Yr4 now. My child does not have learning difficulties. Classes are all small. Teachers are brilliant. Pastoral care is top notch. The new head was Deputy head at Surbiton Girls. So far he’s doing a great job.
Your concept of the school is way off course. Of course like any other school there’ll be a certain amount of children with learning difficulties. All children entering into the Senior school sit an entrance exam, as do the children moving up from Prep School. (The same exam) It was oversubscribed at the last intake. If anything parents are moving their children to the Prep School at Yr5/6 to continue on to Senior School.
Our experience with the school over the years has been very positive, even during lockdown the children are doing full days on teams.
Our son is very happy and so are we. Hope this help.
