Hi, I was wondering if any of you have children in Beaver Road primary and if so, would you recommend it? I have also looked at St. Catherine’s and liked it a lot when I visited it earlier this year. However, BR is a lot closer to where I live and the facilities look better so I am torn.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I am new to the area. Thanks!

Don't know much about St Catherines, Beaver Road is great for a certain sort of child - very bright, over-achieving and will never have any problems for the duration of their 7-years in school. They are a nightmare for SEN - been repeatedly taken to tribunals, lost every time but see it as the price of doing business. Do a lot to avoid taking on SEN kids and don't support the ones they do have. Most parents affected have moved their kids either elsewhere in Didsbury or to private schools. When they were 3-form entry their SEN lead was a full time Y6 teacher. Sadly this isn't the sort of thing you find out until you are stuck in it. I've lost count of the number of SEN kids who have left Beaver Road after a dreadful, dreadful time and then absolutely thrived elsewhere. They have also recently shifted to 5-form entry so have a massive number of kids. Personally I'd avoid like the plague - even without SEN in the equation (and for mild SEN you may not know before primary school your child has it) I'd like to think that schools are caring places. I'm sure plenty of people will come along with very positive stories - most kids won't need school support.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply! It really helps a lot to know someone’s experience when making this choice.
I was worried that although the facilities look great, classrooms are very big and it might be very impersonal and your comment confirms this.
