Hello everyone, I'm new to mumsnet and am very confused about stuff at the mo, so I thought I'd get some other mums in on the confusion. Been in Northampton (Abington) since Jan (previously in Bromham) and have a 21 month old boy. I work full time in MK which is part of my problem as I really really want to be at home now, but am struggling with a) whether to go full time SAHM or part time and b) how I am going to approach work so that I don't piss them off but still get what I want. Arrghhh! DH is on my side whatever happens but I just need to get on with it meantime my little'un is growing up before my very eyes.

So tell me everyone, did you all meet up in the end or is that still to happen? and what's it like being a SAHM in Nortampton - are there lots of groups and stuff to do? Sorry if I sound like a novice....it's cos I am....

hiya - Northampton is ok as a SAHM, there are plenty of P&T groups you can go to, not personally my scene, but if it's your cup of tea then there's lots to do. there's also Rhymetime at Abginton library (which is opposite my house!!) every 2 weeks which is nice, and there's also a SureStart group in Eastfield somewhere.

as for the work thing, i'm really not sure of the best way to go about it. could you go part time? then you could see how you feel about being at home without committing yourself to it totally. or shift your hours round so you get to spend more time at home??

hi, thanks for your reply! I haven't checked the local site for ages. have decided to just go for the SAHM option, if I don't try it I'll never know and it's doing my head in leaving him at nursery every day. So, I'll check out those groups once I'm settled at home, thanks for the info :-)
