House near strawberry Hill train line

Hi everyone!
Thinking about buying a house in Strawberry Hill. The problem I'm having is that I got the survey results and it is mentioned there is considerable train noise
(the garden backs on to the SH line going towards teddington) and possible indication that there is damp in the roof and needs to be repaired.
During my two house viewings I didn't notice anything! Now I'm worried weather I should go ahead or not.
Anyone know much about this line? The house is in Southfield gardens.
I'm really concerned about the sellers if I pull out as they are also buying somewhere else.

Could you check the timetable for that line and see how often the trains run? When I lived near there they were every half an hour.

I live about 200 yards away from that house, and previously lived just the other side of Strawberry Hill station, so I know the trains quite well. You'll see if you look at the timetable that the trains on the SW Trains Kingston / Richmond tend to converge so there'll be 2 trains every twenty minutes, rather than one every ten (for example). There are also some railway works between Strawberry Hill and Teddington so not every train is a passenger train on a timetable, some are in the area for maintenance etc.

I've never lived on Southfield Gardens, but I would be surprised if the trains are moving particularly quickly at that stage, and they are unlikely to sound their horns etc in that part of the track. I would go and stand on the bridge for half an hour at a busy time of day and see what you find.

Ooops, 4 year old thread! I don't think I saw a zombie warning. Anyway, OP, I hope you have a nice house that you're happy with, whether it's on Southfield Gardens or somewhere else.
