Shy mum needs kick in backside.........

Hi,
I've been living in Broughton Astley now for 10 months and still know no-body round here
Would really like to meet some like minded mums, but am very shy and find it difficult to go to mums and tots groups etc on my own. my ds is 17 months.
Can anyone recommend small meet ups (not good with lots of people) or does anyone want to catch up for coffee sometime?

Hi - the soft play group at the village hall on tuesday's is very friendly. I've only been a couple of time but people have always talked to me. My mum regularly takes my ds (also 17months).

I'm in stoney stanton if you fancy meeting for a coffee.

where did you live before Broughton?

I lived in Market Harborough.
I live close to the Village hall, and have seen the masses of pushchairs outside, albeit on a monday, but cos of the way it is situated, once you decided to go up to the doors your kinda committed to going in....stupid I know but the contingency plan for a situation I don't like is limited!
I know I sound nuts...i'm not I promise you

not sure what's on on a Monday as i work Monday to Wednesday.

The nursery also does some activities every day that anyone can go to. I'm planning on going the Friday of half term (two weeks today i think) to sporty tots (or something like that anyway).

If you don't like something you can always leave.

yeah..of course I can leave...just feel guilty for ds as he's missing out cos of my own issues.
I will go along on tues.....perhaps i'll surprise myself
it'd be nice to catch up for coffee sometime though...

i hate mother and baby groups - some are so clicky. I've found things where the kids can do activities a bit better.

i'd go on my own to the soft play and my ds loves it there.

a coffe would be nice. any days that are better for you?

only weds is difficult, but you work weds anyway.
i'll leave it up to you as you work and i don't......

what about a thursday or friday pm. i'm generally busy in the mornings. not sure where is good for a coffee in broughton. could always meet at fosse park? or i quite often go to ullesthorpe garden centre - they've got rabbits, fish etc for the kids to look at and a cafe, unless you've got any other ideas?

what's your ds called? my ds is tom.

Broughton isn't the best place for cafe's etc....only one I think and it's not really pushchair friendly.....Ullesthorpe or Fosse park are fine....either day ok for me.....diary not exactly brimming with places to go

what about this friday at about 2.30pm then at ullesthorpe. it's prob easier with the dcs as they can walk around a bit.

yep ok, 230 this Friday.
was just thinking how would I recognise you, but I don't think there will be many mums with 17month old ds about at the same time
