Hi all,

I plan to move to MK from hong kong next year. Everything is new and challenge to me and i really need some advice from you if possible. May i know if Newport Pagnell is a good, safe and convenient place to live please? Originally, we targeted on Middleton, Shenley Lodge, Two Miles Ash, Loungton but finally we want our daughter studies in Ousedale when she is Yr 7 (she is Yr 5 now), therefore, we might need to go to NP instead. My friend told me that the north and south of MK are not as good as east and west and this is the reason why i am hesitating. Also, i dont have car license and want to learn driving in hong kong before coming, however, due to covid-19, all the driving exam are postponed to at least mid/end of next year (still cant book anything yet), as such, i can only learn driving in MK after moving in.

thank you for your advice in advance.

Newport Pagnell is nice enough, plenty of shops and pubs and some nice streets. I'd be happy to live.

To live there!

Thanks Mustardbay. People told me that center of MK is modernized and NP is more village feel. Both sounds good to me, i am just wondering if it's easy to buy stuffs or travel around without car in NP. Look forward to ...

one more question, i am looking for a house in NP and found some houses somewhere like Greenwich Gardens, Sorrell Drive etc (actually no many choices under ousedale catchment at the moment), in fact, they are quite near M1, does anyone know there is a noise pollution please?

Sorry for hundred of questions. Thank you!!

The bus info is here. Looks like it's a 25 min bus that runs every 30 mins to get to MK. I think youd just be able to walk around Newport without needing a car, yeah it's more like a large village type feel. I'm not sure about noise. I live in a village nearby and just commute through Newport mainly.

If you do not drive Stony Stratford is good. Has a high street with butcher's, bakers, small supermarket plus loads of cafes and hairdressers, doctors, dentists and opticians all within walking distance. There is a good bus service to the bigger supermarket at Wolverton which has a train station on the London line. Stony is a very quaint small town with pretty river walks and a good community feel. Dont know about schools though, sorry. Newport Pagnell can be noisy by the M1.

I meant to say that unfortunately Stony Stratford is a little more expensive than Newport Pagnell. Also, if you buy in Newport Pagnell be aware that there are some areas near the river that have flooded in the past so ask about that.

hi daysofpearlyspencer, thanks for the recommendation, i am sure Stony Stratford must be a good one. Since we are targeting on Ousedale school, i'm afraid that Stony is not the catchment of Ousedale so we can only give it up.

Have a look at Olney. Lovely town, Ousedale also has a campus there. Newport Pagnell is being swallowed by Milton Keynes.

Thanks Perching. I heard that Olney is good too but just think if it's convenient there...
