TW and surrounding - aircraft noise?

Hello,

We are considering moving to Tunbridge Wells or one of the surrounding villages. A contact flagged aircraft noise from Gatwick as a potential issue. Is this actually that bad and if so which areas / villages does it affect, please? Thanks for your help.

Sorry to see you have had no replies. At the moment it's very quiet, with only one or two planes an hour so hardly noticeable, but in normal times they do come in one after the other. I live in Forest Row and they are definitely quite low but usually landing over us so quieter than taking off, although early morning arrivals from the US can be annoying! I wouldn't live in Lingfield as that's directly beneath the flight path and very close to Gatwick but other than that it's fine.

We live in a very beautiful (and sadly overpriced) village about 8 miles south of TW. No aircraft noise at all around here.

Sorry, to expand you’d be fine (from my knowledge) in Frant, Lamberhurst, Wadhurst, Ticehurst, Mayfield, Rotherfield etc - and of course TW itself.

I don’t know if it’s louder further West towards Gatwick.
