Change of primary school application

Hi all,

I'm considering changing my son's school. We are not moving houses, and the in-year application form requires us to write why we wish to move to a new school. The honest truth is that although the infant school is faring very well, the junior counterpart, on the other hand, isn't doing as well. He will be starting in juniors from September. I feel that my son would thrive educationally at the school we wish to apply to, which is also within our catchment. The curriculum is more enriched at the school and there is also less children per year, which i feel would be more beneficial for son, as he is slowly becoming very lost amongst a very big year group.

Please could someone advise me how to phrase this on the application form. The junior school headteacher would also need to sign the form.

Thank you in advance, your input is greatly appreciated

tbh it doesn't matter much. if there isn't any special circumstances that might increase your priority if there are multiple applications for the new school then what you write is irrelevant. in general if there are in-year applications then if a space becomes available then the normal priority order will be applied and the place will go to the highest priority application. that box is there in case there is something extra they need to know, eg if your child has been the victim of extreme bullying and needs a fresh start or if you are fleeing domestic violence. there is nothing wrong with putting something generic like "I feel my child will thrive better here" but it won't affect your application.
