Is Flixton a good area to raise a family?

Hi all this is my first post here. We have relocated from Hong Kong to Manchester 2.5 years ago. Loved it here a lot so we are now looking to put down roots. We currently rent an apartment in city centre but with a baby on the way we are looking to move further away from the centre to a more family friendly area.

We have an offer accepted on a lovely house in Moorside Road, Flixton near the Woodsend Road roundabout. We like the feel of the neighbourhood but recently read some mixed comments online. Can anyone who is more familiarise with the area share your view?

Also as we are relatively new here in Manchester and the UK, we are looking to join some baby groups and meet more new parents. Any recommendation in the area or Manchester in general?

Many thanks!

Sorry just saw this.
It's fine...... The park nearer flixton train station is better than woodsend Park which gets bored teenagers on skatepark . Social media.. Urmston M41s is mainly lost cats, teenagers congregating with level of low level mischief and stolen cars (as is problem in many areas of greater Manchester).

The cafe on the roundabout does nice tapas evenings and scrumptious Sunday roast.... Eat in or take out. The fox is popular.
There is normally a toddler session at St monicas church in the week that was very popular with many in the area... Not sure if it's happening due to covid.. But good way to meet your most local parents.

Thank you for your sharing @happytoday73. Apologies for not replying earlier. I am new to this portal and still learning to navigate.

We have visited different areas in Urmston and Flixton at different times since the last post. Most of the time it is so peaceful and quiet. I think we really would enjoy living here.
