The new CLR James Library - have your say here!

I was at toy library this morning at the CLR James library on Dalston Lane, only to find that the architects of the new building were there giving a presentation on their plans and asking for input. The existing building will be pulled down and a new building on 4 floors is to be built on the site of the old theatre. Shame they're not keeping the old theatre and converting it into a library, but hey lets not go there.

So anyway, I've told the architect that I will post here asking for views, and I'll ask her to look at the thread. So, here's your opportunity - don't hold back!

I've put in my bid for the following

Bluewater-style family toilets i.e. big room with an adult toilet, a kiddie toilet and a changing table + space for a buggy.

One of those John Lewis breastfeeding rocking chairs tucked behind a screen somewhere, but where you're still able to keep an eye on older siblings.

Bouncy chairs / beanbags so that you can look after older siblings without having to hold baby on your hip.

Free gin & tonic for all mothers.

Hey ketchupkisses (love the name change!)

I second all your proposals (especially the G&Ts) and would add a request for the children's area to have some kind of barrier between it and the front entrance to the library - ds has an unnerving habit of running out of the library, straight towards the road.

isnt there a barrier there at the moment upstairs?

Yes there's a barrier, but the whole building is going to be pulled down and re-built.
