hello

have just got myself together after DS2 birth, would like to take DS1 out a bit more, esp for a singing/music class. can anyone recommend a decent one? we're on the Stoke Newington side of Hackney, so Islington is reasonably handy too for us...

There is a singing group at Hackney library at 10am on Tuesdays and Fridays, but its very popular so you have to get there very early. Otherwise there is one I haven't tried yet at yogahome which sounds like it might be close for you. Its £2 for 45mins on Tuesdays at 10.30.

There must be lots of other surestart ones but I've lost my surestart leaflets.

Hope this helps. I've just started maternity leave, so I'm looking out for new activities as well. I've been going to art club at the Evergreen Adventure playground which is really good when you've got a baby and an older sibling. Its on Thursdays at 10am. They do a bit of singing at the end, but its mostly art.

Hey time4tea

On Thursdays there's a lovely singing group at the Green Hut on New North Road (it's the rather dodgy looking building on the junction with East Road). You can get the 141 bus from Stoke Newington or the 21 from Newington Green. 0-2years at 1pm, 2-5 years at 2pm.

The same guy does sessions at the Seebright children's centre on Friday mornings from 9.30am but that might be a bit far for you to go.

I haven't been but there's also a group at 10am on Fridays in the crypt at St Peters church on De Beauvoir Road.

There is also a music group at the Salvation Army in Clapton

Monday at 10am with Maddie, that one is really good.

There used to be one in Abney Hall, which was awful, and there used to be one in Clissold Cafe but i never made it to that one.

I loved the Springfield Cafe one and the Sally Army one but i haven't been for a while, prob starting again once DD2 gets a bit bigger.

I have just started a music group in Stoke Newington.

Classes are on Tuesdays at 9.30am at Lemon Monkey Cafe.

Have a look at my website! www.hollyaisbitt.co.uk/

It would be great to see you there,

Holly

I absolutely love Sparky Songs at the Old Fire Station nursery on Brooke Road. Website is www.sparkysongs.com/
The guy writes a lot of his own songs which are very charming/funny and does lots of dressing up/actions and silly stuff which the kids adore. He also has a bit each session where they all get a drum/triangle/shaker and get to play along and gets the kids up dancing a lot to burn off energy. It's 10am on a Monday morning and costs £5.50.
