Moving to Barnet (whetstone) - help/advice

Hello,

My wife, 2 yo son, soon to arrive daughter and I are currently looking at properties in Barnet.

we have found a property that is nice but needs a bit of work and it’s just south of whetstone (friary park). We have done some research and it seems the schools close by seem good.

Does anyone recommend any specific schools close to friary park area?

Is it a nice area to live?

I know someone who lives about 10 mins walk southish of Friary park, who became an ardent churchgoer when her eldest was 2 or 3 because she found that all the local schools were abysmal except the one (I think St John's?) that requires you to be a churchgoer to get a place. the church is fully aware that lots of people are only there for the school place, and are very strict on their record keeping about how much you are actually involved.

it's a great area generally though. nice community feel. not too grimly urban with good green areas.
