I have just got a job in Lancaster city center and we need to move asap . Looking to rent till we get our bearings. I have a DC of 9 and my husband works from home so we need a quiet neighbourhood.... there was an old conversation here but don't know if it is still relevant... help! :)

The centre isn't very big really. Most of Lancaster is nice but there are some dodgy bits like Skerton, Newton, Ridge and the Marsh. You might like to avoid streets with loads of students on as well. In terms of schools, Bowerham is a decent primary school for your son. There's also a Steiner school if that's your bag. There's been a lot of building in Lancaster in the last few years, so there's loads of new estates. You might get a few people coming on to tell you it's all a shit hole but it really is a lovely little city.

PM me if you want some more details, OP.

Oh or daughter! I read DC as DS for some reason.
