We're moving from England to Glasgow this summer and I'm wondering when I need to apply for my daughter to start at primary school for August 2021. Hopefully we'll have found a new home in the catchment area we want by the time we need to apply.

Is it November 2020?

It will be November.

This page www.glasgow.gov.uk/article/18007/Starting-Primary-School is for this year I think.

Thank you. Sorry I've only just seen your reply.

However in Scotland there's a policy to keep places for children who move into catchment after the deadline and a presumption that you will go to your local school so not being in place in time is not a disaster (possibly unless looking at Jordanhill but that's an entirely different kettle of fish).

You need to be registered for council tax purposes which can be done up to a month in advance.

There are also Catholic schools (bigger but still defined catchments) and Gaelic medium options if you're interested.

For what it's worth none of the families on our street go to the catchment school. We are planning to see how it goes and placing request elsewhere only if necessary once we can actually visit the school!
