Southfields or Colliers Wood?

Hi,

My husband and myself are thinking of buying a 2 bed flat (max budget around 450K), we don't know if Southfields or Colliers Wood (also thinking of Putney) We need easy access to central London and also good nurseries and schools in the area. Any recommendations?

I lived in Colliers Wood for six years and loved it. It'll be far better value than Southfields or Putney. Great community spirit, lovely housing stock, Recreation Ground, Wandle Park, library, Morden Hall Park (my favourite place - I loved walking there via the river path down by Merton Abbey Mills and Dean City Farm), a Homesense/TKMaxx (!) and great food shopping with huge Sainsbursys / M&S / Lidl / Aldi & local Co-ops and Tesco Express. Few good nurseries including new one on high street is meant to be good - it doesn't have outdoor space but apparently that means they get taken on more trips. Singlegate Primary is outstanding. Also great transport links with tube, Tooting Thameslink, buses and cyclepath. It's also walkable to Tooting so have the great restaurants and bars etc there when want but it's quieter and cheaper. Also great for Wimbledon too. Do be warned that there is often traffic on the main road. Good luck!
