Hi all,

We're looking into primary schools as we'll be applying for our DS next academic year. I would love to know more about the Cathedral School and how you managed to be successful in getting DC there? It seems it's in the council's hands? If we lived in the area would that make a difference at all?

We have researched the surrounding schools and think St George C of E seems really nice too. Does anyone have experience with this school?

It's a bit of a dilemma for us as we're currently in Totterdown but our tenancy is up for renewal in the Spring. Think we want to move to BS1 if possible to be closer to the schools we think would be great for our DS. We're not so sure about the schools in this area.

Cathedral primary school has a random allocation process and places are not allocated based on distance so moving closer (to BS1) won't improve your child's chances of securing a place. It might be worth looking on Bristol city council website and the school website to review the admissions policy if you haven't done already.

I live in south Bristol and my eldest gained a place at Cathedral primary school a few years ago. Unfortunately I don't really know much St George C of E but hopefully someone else may post some information about this school.

I forgot to ask if you've checked to see if you're within the 'admission distance' area for Hillcrest primary school?
