Hi all,

We are looking to move out of london over summer- I have got my son in a school in Sevenoaks for September which is a huge relief! but we are really stuck on where to live in Sevenoaks- there are beautiful houses within 1-1.5 miles of the station but you don’t necessarily get the gorgeous countryside views. The other option is to move 4-5 miles out, but that does mean it’s a drive to get anywhere and I love walking with my 2 boys everywhere in london. Is there anyone out there that has made the move from london and isn’t bothered driving to get everywhere? Found some Gorgeous houses in Ide hill but wondering what it would be like living there?? Anyone who can shed their experience/advice would be greatly appreciated xx

We made the move from a greater London to Sevenoaks. We had the same issue as you and ended up going to a house within walking distance to station ect. We decided that as our children grow we wanted them to have the freedom of getting a bus without needing the taxi of Mum and Dad. Still got the countryside on the doorstep. I do sometimes wish I had the country views though.
Idle Hill is lovely and they usually get snow!!

We went for the village on the outskirts option - the benefit being the countryside walking opportunities (although obviously Knole is slap bang in the middle of town). It’s been six years now and we don’t regret it! We could afford the kind & size of we couldn’t in the centre of town (and I love my house, it’s not a compromise like the 2 London properties we owned). The only pain is getting a taxi back from town on a rare night out, the public transport being so rubbish.
