RIE parenting classes in London UK

Hello
I am currently in Los Angeles (English but been here 3 months) and attending a RIE parenting class – developed by Magda Gerber – all based on the RIE principles and respectful parenting. www.rie.org/ When I return to London in January 2020 I am keen to find like minded parents who may know of RIE classes in London or want to meet to create an informal class. My son Woods will be 11 months and I am keener on this type of experience for him than many classes offered. If anyone is 'out there' (!) with any suggestions, ideas or already follows the RIE / Janet Lansbury style in London please get in touch! Thanks

I'm interested in attending classes like that but I haven't come across any! None of the playgroups I see are in line with the RIE style either. Such a shame because it seems all the good stuff is in the US! Hope you have luck finding some. Do share here if you do!

I'd be up for creating an informal group – ie. we meet up and know we're just allowing the babies to do there own thing whilst we sit and relax and observe. I reached out to Janet Lansbury and she said there was no one RIE trained in England which seems absurd!

Hi, I am interested in helping you set up such a group or joining in. I love the RIE approach and try to study it online and from books as much as I can. Hi @TimiM great to hear from you! How old is your child? I am based in De Beauvoir – near to Dalston Junction so relatively easy on the overground for us both. Do you know anyone else keen – it would be great to form a group together if our babes are similar ages etc. My son is about to turn 10 months – egardless though we should try to meet. The classes here have been amazing. Let me know if keen to connect on email?

@TimiM Thats great news that are children are so close in age! I just came back from my RIE class and will be so bereft to leave it behind – you contacting me makes me happy that we could potemtially create something! I can't see your email. Hi everyone, just wondering if you managed to arrange to meet for informal RIE classes - I love the approach but can’t find anything in London! Am currently 20 weeks pregnant with my first, based in Hampstead.

Hi @Chamallow – I get back to London on the 1st jan and Timi and I are hoping to meet up. We both have a 10/11 month old. There really isn't anything in London – I have been in touch with the Pickler Institute but they only suggest Richmond or Croydon. Frustrating to say the least. If we do start to get an informal class going it;d be interesting!

Hello! I also interested! I have been following Janet Lansbury since pregnant of my now 3y7m old daughter. I have a 5mo baby and currently living in Brighton though. It's amazing you had the opportunity to go to RIE classes with Janet...I am brazilian and moved to the UK just 2 months ago and it is a shame that there isn't' RIE qualified instructors.

Oh wow - great idea!!! I would so LOVE to attend an informal RIE class as I absolutely love Janet Lansbury's work and I am now reading Magda Gerber's "Your Self-Confident Baby". However I am based in Oxford, UK and don't think I can make it up to London (I have a 3 and a half year old and a 6 month old). Don't suppose anyone in Oxford is interested in setting up something like this?
We are from Sydney, Australia and I attended a Montessori group with my first baby where the babies played and the parents talked and it was one of the highlights of my week.

There is a UK parents inspired by RIE group on Facebook. Quite a lot of London based parents on there

Its so great there are so many of us! I was also given a practitioner / faciliatator name from my RIE classes in LA. I'll contact them too. @TimiM I shall email you back as just seen yours but does everyone want to share emails and we can get a group email going? Possibly easier than signing into mumsnet etc.
