Many will have heard about the huge protests across the world, organised by Extinction Rebellion. The earth faces immense dangers, putting the wellbeing and lives of anyone now a child, teenager or young adult, at risk within decades - from the high risk of climate and ecological breakdown. Many parents have very real fears for the future lives of their children, let alone grandchildren. So XR is doing all it can to bring this issue to greater public attention, to get real policies and action to limit the carbon emissions we produce, and try to stop the world heating by more than 1.5 degrees C (2C at the very most). There are about 360 Extinction Rebellion groups now across the UK, and about 55 XR Youth groups. We now have an Extinction Rebellion group in Epsom & Ewell. (We are not "uncooperative crusties" and none of us does illegal things to get arrested ... we are sensible, well informed members of middle England, but we care about the future welfare of the planet, its people and its wildlife). Our next meeting is on Tuesday 12th November, at 7.30pm at Glyn Hall, in Ewell (just opposite Sainsburys, set a bit back from the road). 3a Cheam Rd, Ewell, Epsom KT17 1SP Anyone interested in finding out more is warmly invited.
