Moving To Runcorn

Hi i am looking for info about Family friendly Places to Live. I have got a job in Speke, liverpool.
So i am Looking at areas around their, so the commute isn't too long.
Runcorn seems cheap and has some nice house. But is it a SAFE! Place to Live with a Family??
