Dundonald primary nursery- advice needed pls!

Dear all Merton Mumsnetters!

Wanted your advice on something.

We have just moved into the area. We are keen for our DS, 3.5 years old, to start at Dundonald primary in September, given we are quite close to the school (fully appreciate how difficult and uncertain school catchments are, so needless to say, fingers crossed!). Currently DS and DD,1 year old, are in Bright Horizons 5 days a week.

Dundonald has just offered us a place in the nursery. This is tempting given it will help DS transition nicely into Reception (he is quite shy), but creates a headache in terms of childcare, as thats only 12:30 to 3:30pm in the afternoons, and both of us work long hours.

We wanted to ask parents that have sent their kids to Dundonald nursery:

  • how would you rate the nursery?
  • in general would you rate highly the benefit of attending nursery with respect to transition into school?
  • if the answer to the above was yes, what childcare arrangement worked best for you? We understand Dicky Birds offer dropoffs and pickups from Dundonald nursery, but unfortunately they dont have a place for our kids.

We greatly appreciate the help of this wonderful community.

thanks!
