Hi everyone – unfortunately flu season is on its way. Posting this in the hope it will be useful! If your child is at primary school (Reception to year 6) the school will send you a consent form to have your child vaccinated. Don’t forget to sign and return it. The children’s nasal spray is painless and easy to have, with an excellent safety record. The vaccine will help protect your child against flu, which can cause fever, aching muscles and joints, and extreme tiredness, and serious complications such as painful ear infections, bronchitis and pneumonia. If your child is aged two or three years old they can get the nasal spray at your GP surgery and if you are pregnant you also qualify for a free flu vaccination - speak to your midwife, GP or local pharmacy. You can find out more here: www.nhs.uk/child-flu and at the school immunisation team’s website you can see the Reading school vaccination timetable: bit.ly/2ISqwJo
