finding a primary school in Milton Keynes

I was hoping for some advice. I am relocating to MK from the US in September with 8yo (heading into Year 4) in tow. I am wondering if anyone has any tips on getting him into a school.

I was thinking of looking in Bradwell, Loughton, and the Shenleys, or Middleton and Monkston (near work). The schools there have generally good results. If schools there are full, though, and they can't take him, he might end up at a school quite far away. I would like to avoid having to sign a 12 month lease in one place, having to take him to school in a second place, and then having to commute to work. We will not have a car. Is it even worth looking at properties in those areas?

Also, apparently some of these "academy" schools have a separate application process. If one of them is your catchment school, and they don't have a place for you, do you then have to file a separate application with the council? Should I just apply to every school?

Thanks in advance for any insight you have.

You need to contact the coucil and they’ll tell you which schools have vacancies.
