Roman blinds where to buy

We have Roman blinds in our sitting room. They are great and I was happy with the process when we got them made to measure by John Lewis a couple of years ago.

However, when I went to suss out getting a Roman blind made for our dining room the whole experience of visiting the Cambridge branch of John Lewis was a tad unsatisfactory.

Attracting the attention of a member of staff was quite tricky and there was a sort of reluctance to be of any assistance. The fabric choosing area was in semi darkness because the lighting above wasn’t working.

Then there is the whole thing about the so called ‘7 day service’. The 7 days is only for making up the blinds. This merely seems the amount of time that part of the process ought to take if they actually want folks custom.

So, anyone have any other recommendations of other made to measure blinds services locally. It’s a fairly small Victorian sash window, so an off the peg blind might work if you have any fitter recommendations.

I had similar issues with John Lewis, @MasterTomsMum. In the end I went with the Cambridge Fabric Company, who have a shop on Peas Hill. Excellent customer service & workmanship. We had two pairs of voile curtains to cover French windows & two Roman blinds. The blinds were fitted by Paul Crow, who was recommended by the shop. He also fitted a curtain pole for us. Nice chap and a total perfectionist, which is a good trait for this line of work I think! www.pwcdesign.co.uk/
