Belper: opinions please

Looking into a move close to Derby University. I am considering Belper instead of Derby City or outskirts.

Does anyone on here actually live in Belper or maybe you know the town? Just want a local perspective, what would you say are the best and worst factors of living/working in Belper? Any help much appreciated. Thanks

Belper is really nice and tbh somewhere I might consider living even with children. I was brought up in the country and always vowed to live in a city for easy access to facilities, but Belper has a cinema, shops, places tomeatvand a swimming pool. It's also quite appealing and not a tiny village, plus the bus to Derby is good.

Schools are good too. I still prefer living in Derby tho and so do my kids (10 mins on bus to city) but if you want a small town rather than a city Belper gets my vote in Derbys.

Why not Derby itself op? Then you could walk to uni.
