Where to move in Surrey with a baby?

Hi all

We are looking to relocate to Surrey. My partner works in Weybridge so needs to be 30 mins drive or so maximum away, but we aren't that taken with Weybridge itself.

We'd love to rent with a view to buying in a semi-rural/rural village location with a decent nursery, primary school, playground and a mums and babies community for me (I have a 15 month old). Does such a place exist?!
Some shops/local activities and a swimming pool would be an extra bonus...

All ideas so welcome!!

It is not rural but Surbiton is lovely. Very family friendly, plenty of shops and good schools. Not too far from where you need to be for work either.

We will have a look there but were ideally hoping to be on the other side of the M25. I grew up in SW London so would like to ring the changes somewhere a bit more rural ideally!!

What's your budget? Most of Surrey is ridiculously expensive (I am in SW Surrey), but there are cheaper bits

Look at the areas around Staines and Woking.
There aren't that many truly rural areas. Places like Addlestone and Chobham are quite nice.
It depends a lot on your budget.
A 30 minute drive in rush hour is nothing - it could be as little as 2 miles.

MikeUniformMike · 07/07/2019 17:39

I meant Chertsey not Chobham.

Have a look at Farnham. I don't live there, but I live in a much less posh area nearby. It's pretty and very popular.

Bagshot and Windlesham are nice. I'd say Farnham was a bit of a commute. Camberley is ok. Egham is nice. Some nice places within the M25. Places nearer Heathrow might be under the flightpath

Not Surrey, but Wraysbury is nice. Ascot and Bracknell areas are worth a look too.

Pyrford. Easy commute to Weybridge. Village feel, nice community, excellent primary. Secondary options not great though, the only downside.

Thanks v much for these! Yes Farnham is nice but I think too far for the commute. Is Shere nice? I want somewhere with an active mums and tots scene ideally...

You won't do Shere to Weybridge in rush hour in 30 mins
