moving to Lincoln

My family and I will be moving to Lincoln next month. I have two children aged 4 and 1 and was wondering if anyone knows of any good mother and toddler groups or things to do for children of this age. We will be living in the Waddington area.

Hello JenMull. I moved to Lincoln in December last year so I'm new to the area too. I am 16 weeks pregnant with my firt baby. Obviously I don't yet know about any mother and todler groups. If you have a look at the meet ups in Lincoln thread there are several ladies on there who have children. They might be able to help you.

Hi JenMull I live about 8 miles away from Waddington. There's a village called Coleby just down the road from there that has a lovely M&T group-been going for years.(my DD's now 10 & 12 & we used to go!!) Not sure where they're meeting at the mo as I know the village hall was being renovated last I looked. If you ring the school they'll probably know. Loads of stuff going on around Waddington so I'm sure there'll be one there too somwhere.

there is a nice mother and toddler group in waddington village hall on thursday afternoons. i think 1.30- 3.00 ish. it doesn't run in the holidays, although i think some of the mums make their own arrangements to meet up.

there is also a brewers fayre at the bottom of newark road, just before "pennells" roundabout
(pennells is a big garden centre-people will direct you)they have a toddler session on mon and fri mornings. think is 10 to 11.30. i'm an older mum who works part time as a nanny, and i've taken children i look after, and grandchildren to these.

We are really settled in Lincoln now and go to all the places you suggested. Another quick question. My daughter's pre school is holding a nearly new sale for baby and toddlers clothes and toys. Would anyone know where would be the place to let people know about this on mumsnet and are you allowed to do this?

I've just moved to the area too. We arrived on 28th April and I've got a son has just turned four. We are in Woodhall Spa area. If anyone could recommend any activities, classes, places to take kids, place and meet new friends (for me and my son). That would be great as I don't know the area at all.

In Lincoln itself then uphill is considered nicer. West end used to be nice but is overrun with students now. Avoid monks rd and Portland st areas. Avoid birch wood. Doddington park is ok. Avoid ermine and st giles.

Nice villages are nettle ham, welton, hykeham, cherry willing ham, saxilby. Plenty of other nice smaller villages as well.

It depends on what size of house you need tbh. When we were looking move, we found that the houses uphill (although desirable) within our budget were way too small for us. You get much more for your money in the villages, and ours is 10min drive to the city center so not far at all.

we have our own sure start center and a few play groups which we make use of and everyone is friendly.
