Richmond upon thames School, reviews?

Hello fellow Mums! I need your help on deciding which school my Son will go to..He got a place in Twickenham School but got an offer on RTS(he’s on waiting list). Im not keen on TS as I’ve heard of bad reputation but need to know if RTS is doing well? i know its fairly new School. I really didnt have any ideas as we just recently move in the area. Thanks!!

I have friends who's DC go there, so far they have been very happy with the school.

Of course he's a politician not an Ofsted inspector so he may not be qualified to judge, but still you should maybe visit both schools to decide which you prefer.

I know people at both school. Mixed reviews on both schools. I think Twickenham School is improving, but not sure I'd take Vince Cables review at face value. Go visit both schools and think about which one is right for you / your child.

Absolutely do not send your child to RTS. In the very short time they’ve been established, my niece has suffered from bullying, been assaulted by a known bully and the school has done absolutely nothing. A pupil who was caught with a weapon suffered no consequences and the school has established no boundaries or deterrents for those kind of children. I find it astounding that a new school wouldn’t want to take this opportunity to establish themselves in a more positive light. Look at Orleans Park. I wouldn’t recommend TA but it’s a better choice than RTS.

I have heard a lot of very positive stuff about Twickenham School being turned round since it was taken over by Ms Ruse (formerly deputy head of Waldegrave) about 3 years ago. Try asking for opinions of both on the Whitton Village Facebook page aswell as a lot of people who live in Whitton read that.

My son has been at RTS for a year and a half now and I have nothing but positive things to say about this school, the staff are all dedicated and he has been very happy there. I am so pleased I trusted my gut instinct by sending him there in Sept 2018

I can't comment on RTS because although our younger son was offered a place there we didn't take it. Both our boys are at Twickenham School and we love it. The teachers there are competent, personable and committed. Both the boys are being well taught and our eldest is set to leave this summer with some really good grades (as long as he does the revision!!) The headteacher is wonderful, warm and genuine, but she is feisty enough to keep students on their toes! She demands a high standard from her staff and won't employ anyone she doesn't believe is excellent, but her appreciation of staff is apparent and they seem happy; turnover is minimal.

Clearly, other parents at Twickenham School feel the same way as me

Glad to see the PR person the school got on board is doing their job.They churn out more press releases than all the other local schools put together, and have organised parents into peppering social media with sugar-coated posts. Good work!

The latest ofsted report rate Twickenham School requires improvement and RTS is a good school. Curious why choose a school that requires improvement over a good school. Thanks!
