Hello, just wondering if there's any other mums out there in the north of the borough around bermondsey? I've got a 26 month old boy and am bored, bored, bored of all the usual parks, play groups and stuff that I do with him. Anyone got any suggestions for something fun and new to do that's accessible for us without a car?

In return here's a suggestion, the livesey museum on the old kent road has a fantastic exhibition about numbers, brilliant for toddlers and older kids. My little boy just loves it...

Cheers from RaggyBaggy x

A bit late, but yes I'm here. I'm new to the site and was curious to know if there was a strong SE1 network. I get the impression that 'no' would be the right answer to that

root · 29/09/2007 19:38

hello SE1s. I live in SE5 but work in SE1. What about the Tate Modern and the Festival Hall. Both good places to hang out and lots of running around space. The Festival Halls new education centre should be open this autumn and will run kids' activities. There are also performances for kids at the Scoop by the GLA building at Tower Bridge, though probably mainly during the summer.

Hello, I'm in SE22, first baby due on 29 Oct and keen to meet some of the many pregnant women I see all over East Dulwich - anyone else out there?

Knitterbird · 07/10/2007 08:07

Good luck with everything AnnaVR - I've heard that it's catching in Dulwich . I'm a bit behind you (1st December) and due to finish work in about 4 weeks.

I'm still at work at the moment and in the whirlwind that carries the label 'preparing for baby'. But give me a few weeks and I'd interested in meeting (not that it should stop anyone from meeting before hand).

AnnaVR · 11/10/2007 10:58

Hi Knitterbird, get in touch once you're on maternity leave (not sure whether or not I'll have given birth by then) and try not to get too stressed about the preparation!

KitKatSE1 · 12/10/2007 16:32

Hi all

I popped my sprog on 13 August and am DESPERATE for the company of people who know what mothers are going through! I'm in the Tooley Street area of SE1...

ImBarryScott · 12/10/2007 19:35

At last! I've been waiting for the Southwark section of the board to spring into life. I live on the SE5/SE15 borders (people from Camberwell insist I live in Peckham and vice versa ), but am free to meet up in Dulwich, Bankside, anywhere really.

nozza · 15/10/2007 13:11

Hi,

I just came over from Italy three weeks ago with my 9 months old daughter Mila. I live in Borough and I am getting so bored..... is there anybody around here who would like to meet?

twinsandra · 18/10/2007 22:09

hey i'm in dulwich and would love to meet other new young mums with babies of a similar age to mine (nearly 5 months). especially if, like me, you have twins!

jamjarparmar · 20/10/2007 13:05

so where's the meeting place then?! Just read all the posts and everyone's keen to meet up.. it sounds like there are two groups, one north Southwark and one south. I'm due (checks diary) ooh THREE DAYS AGO so am filling time until baby number two arrives. But would love to meet other mums in the area in the next few weeks/months!

how about a coffee at Cafe Nero, Lordship Lane, on thurs 8 Nov. Well, might as well put something in my diary. I can be there 10.30. swings are up the road if needed..

Any takers? perhaps it could become a Weekly Do?

AnnaVR · 23/10/2007 21:27

Great organisation jamjarparmar! That date sounds good in theory but if my baby (due Mon) is a week late I might find it a bit tricky. Let's confirm nearer the time....

ImBarryScott · 23/10/2007 21:35

I was worried I'd killed this one off - glad to see it's still going.
nozza I am not a million miles from Borough if you fancied meeting
anna and jamjar - if you ever organise a meet-up on a Monday or a Thursday I wouldn't mind gatecrashing, if that's ok?

ImBarryScott · 23/10/2007 21:37

monday or wednesday, that should read.
Post-partum dementia, methinks.

smanfa · 28/10/2007 14:35

count me in any meet ups too - I am in the Rotherhithe area - so can do Bankside, any Southwark really.... on another note does any one have a good child minder they can recommend - need somewhere to put my little one for one day a week. Any suggestions??

prettymum · 30/10/2007 09:34

hello!!! im another one in the boderline of se5 and se15, im bang in the middle.

imbarryscott- where abouts are you?

would love to meet up with other mums in the area, im the only one out of my friends with kids so dont really have mummy friends.

can meet up anywhere really as i can drive now after passing in august!!

twinsandra · 01/11/2007 21:09

i can do the 8th or another day if that's better for people.

ClaraMG · 12/11/2007 16:34

Hi there. I live in SE22 and just had my first DD on 17 October. Have ventured out in a daze to Dulwich park a couple of times and joined the throngs of prams on lordship lane occasionally, but now I'm starting to feel a bit less shell shocked it would be good to meet up with other mums in the area.

Knitterbird · 16/11/2007 10:25

And I'm back in SE1. AnnaVR, I hope everything went well.

Have there been any meet ups? It sounds like everyone has popped, but seeing as I'm now on maternity leave, I'd love to meet up with other mums (and pick your brains).

Now all I need to do is get over this nesting thing......

Helen53 · 20/11/2007 12:56

Hi

There's lots going on in SE1 and SE16 and wider, it's just finding out about it all!

Broadly grouped there's SureStart stuff (Gov't initiative), then there are local groups set up by parents themselves and thirdly NCT (National Childbirth Trust) get togethers.

Starting with SureStart (Bermondsey SureStart tel 020 7064 9770) many of the activities are based in the Ellen Brown centre at 145 Grange Road, SE1, a great place - in Spa Gardens, here's the current timetable:
Monday 10-12 soft play;
Tuesday 10-12 Breastfeeding cafe
Monday - Thursday 1-3 Parent Toddler Play Group
Wednesday 1230-3:30 & Thursday 10-12 Arts and Crafts Drop-in
Friday - 2-3 WhipperSnappers Music Group
And there's also the Chipper Club up near Guys Hospital:
www.charterhouse-in-southwark.org.uk/Chipperclub.htm

Local groups - the main one I know about is the recently formed Riverside Parents, for as the name suggests, parents up near the river in SE1 and SE16 - it's just getting going really - www.riversideparents.co.uk/ check out the forum for activities and get togethers

Finally the NCT is active in most regions, tends to be focussed on new parents, very welcoming, I know in SE16 they have tea meetings and a walk in Southwark Park (Monday morning I think) - contact details:
www.nct.org.uk/branches/southwark/

Hope this helps

Best wishes

Helen

twinsandra · 22/11/2007 20:03

ClaraMG are you still look ingt for meetups?

AnnaVR · 22/12/2007 14:35

Hi, I'm back after DS's arrival on 2 November and ready for a meetup. Anyone up for the week starting 14 Jan? Knitterbird I tried to CAT you but I can't. You can CAT me or change your preferences to receive emails from other Mumsnetters.
Merry Christmas everyone.

nicky6 · 02/01/2008 21:36

hi all wondered if anyone went on southwark site, am in dulwich area and due at the end of the month anyone else due about the same time be nice to meet some people after the litlle wriggler is born

mumemma · 10/01/2008 23:26

Only just joined the Mumsnet local thing and spotted this. I'm near London Bridge with a 18m and 4yr old (now at school). Always interested in new places to go or a meetup for inspiration.

AnnaVR · 17/01/2008 20:21

Went to Giraffe underneath the Royal Festival Hall today - loads of babies in there and the staff were very friendly and tolerant!

MilansMum · 21/01/2008 15:03

Hi I just joined this site. I have a 25 month old ACTIVE boy and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of any great toddler activities in SE1 on Wednesday 23 Jan that I could do with him?
Is there anyone else with a 2 year old or older (I am afraid of younger babies as he still hits/bites sometimes) that would like to meet up for a playdate?
