Moving from London to Clevedon

Hi all,
We are looking to relocate from South East London to Clevedon.
We love the fact it’s by the coast, has an actual high street and beautiful slightly affordable period houses. I suppose I’m asking what’s the catch? Is it actually commutable from Bristol? Good schools? Is it family friendly? Appreciate any advice you could possibly give. Many thanks in advance!

Clevedon is lovely and school is good. However Portishead might be better - nice marina, much nearer to Bristol, good schools, decent shops, still on coast. Both are family friendly & have plenty for kids, leisure centre, sports clubs. Great cinema in Clevedon. Ham Green/Pill even nearer to Bristol & near enough to Portishead for shops etc .

Love Clevedon and you get a lot of house for your money. Yes good schools and family friendly. Strong sense 9f community including community run bookshop and community run cinema. Commute to Bristol isn't brilliant, basically 1 road. Depends where you are working in Bristol. We really like Clevedon.

Don't go to ham green or pill. Not by coast and not good schools.

I live in Clevedon and both DH and I work in Bristol. We love it. We are in walking distance to Tesco and Asda but there’s a Lidl and Aldi too. Very family friendly - lots of parks including the Salthouse fields on the seafront which has fairground rides in the summer. It’s fab for a stroll in the sun, getting an ice cream/fish and chips is one of my favourite things to do on days like today. There are plenty of hairdressers and restaurants and cafes. Hill Road has some lovely shops and places to eat. The high school is rated outstanding and there are several primary schools dotted around. The library is family friendly and the leisure centre does kids swimming lessons etc.

As for the commute it kind of depends where in Bristol. My DH works in aztec west so it’s an easy peasy 20 mins up the M5 for him. I work in the centre, but WFH a lot. Yatton train station isn’t far though so I tend to commute that way. It’s fairly quick and painless (avoid getting on a tiny Weston bound train in the summer though!)
