Hi Im relocating with my husband to local area and am wondering if anyone can tell us what some of the villages north of Durham are like. We have seen houses we like in Burnopfield, Stanley, Kip Hill, Rowlands Gill. We just want a quiet area that we can get out in to the countryside to walk dogs etc...

Some of the properties have been on for a while...is the market not great at the moment?

Rowlands Gill is lovely!

Where do you need to be for work?

Depends on your budget really, but lanchester is lovely and would fit the bill. Areas of consett and Shotley bridge could work too. All 3 area north of durham, but really easy commutes to dhm or Newcastle, and have great access to the countryside without being isolated

Probably better to go further north if your working Newcastle and Washington area. There are some stunning places in Washington and the surrounding areas (born and bred in Washington). Though you’ll have to be careful with the area due to schools as they can be very hit and miss.

Whitley Bay is lovely. I'd move there. And parts of Newcastle are gorgeous. Jesmond Vale/Heaton Park - anywhere near the Dene is really magical. And central.
