Moving to Sheffield (nr dobcroft)

Hi I currently live in central London with my husband and 2yo son. We are thinking of moving to Sheffield to be near the DH’s family (and because I miss having a house and garden). Unfortunately I know no one in Sheffield other than them. Can anyone who has moved up from London give me their honest opinion of living there? We are looking at s10/11 near Dobcroft school / Whirlow. Is there a sense of a community around that area? I don’t want to get a nice house but feel isolated. There are similar posts but they are a bit outdated.

Hello Hilda41 We didn’t move in the end as we decided we both wanted to be in London, however since lockdown we are now reconsidering a move north again but more likely Leeds/Harrogate area due to jobs. Sheffield is still an option. Do you want Dobcroft area specifically?

Did either of you move in the end? I grew up in Dobcroft area and still live nearby, I think it has a fantastic sense of community. Excellent schools and a lot of families/grandparents living here who are invested in these and the community.

Hi @raysofhope we made the move! Ended up in Bents Green area. Really pleased we came to Sheffield, definitely the right move for us.
