Secondaries with strong pastoral care

Hello,
We are moving to the area in the summer. We are thinking about secondaries for DS who will soon entering year 6.

I can see the schools that on paper are good academically but any insights into the pastoral care? My son needs a school where he will not be allowed to be lost in a large crowd because he has a tendency to be a total dreamer and is sensitive, yet quite easily influenced by peers. We are looking for proactive, strong yet caring staff. Also we would love a clear programme of character building opportunities. Plus, the cohesion of the general student population is of interest.

We haven't settled on an area yet so open to hear about any school in around 30 mins on train from Reading. (We have mostly researched Earley, Wokingham, and Bracknell so far).

(Also any specific views on Blessed Hugh Faringdon? The results for last year were low but DS is used to catholic school so would interested in your opinions)

Which school did you choose in the end? My DD was at BHF until last year and I found it a really good school. The pastoral care was excellent.
