Independent school options

Hi all. I'm in the process of investigating potential independent schools in Surrey for my son (8) and daughter (11) as we are immigrating to the UK. I would love to hear your views on the various schools in the area. We are looking for a solid all through school which is strong in academics, cultural programs and sport. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You might want to repost under the Education topic as those using the mumsnet app cannot reply on Local (technical glitch), mentioning the area in the title. Which part of Surrey were you looking at, as this is a large county and replies will vary accordingly. When does your dd turn 12? Typically most girls transfer to secondary at 11 and those places will be offered around now following entrance tests and interviews in December/January. There are some co-ed prep schools which go through to 13 though and one of these may give you more time to settle and choose a secondary option, although these tend to pretest in year 6/7. Were you hoping for the same school for both?

Heya, we looked at St Andrews, Halstead and Hoe Bridge for our daughter and Hoe Bridge was MILES ahead of any of the others. Well worth a look. Daughter will be going there in September.
