School recommendations for child with ASC

Hi all and Merry Christmas [santa]

Our son is due to start school in 2020 and we have been looking at primary schools for him in Islington.

DS has diagnosis of ASC and we are looking for recommendations for schools that have a strong SEN department/understanding of needs.

We think he will cope well in mainstream as he is very sociable and enjoys playing with the children in his nursery. Although he has some speech delay we believe he will have pretty much caught up by the time he starts. Thankfully he is a September baby so will have had some extra time.

TIA

Hi OP,

Shoreditch Park Primary School in South Hackney (which borders South Islington) has an excellent reputation for supporting children with various SEN. I believe that they receive specific funding for 10 children per year to receive dedicated 1:1 support. I think you have to apply directly/ specifically to the school to secure the funding/ support for your child.

I hope this helps.
