Which year would they be in?

I know I’m being stupid here but I just want to check. What school year would my kids be in in Scotland- moving from England. One is born Oct 09, the other Oct 12. Thank you!

Oct 12 would be in year 1
Oct 09 would be year 4

My Oct 09 DC is currently in P5, and my June 12 DC is currently in P2.

I make it P2 and P5.

Children registering to start P1 August 2019 are born between March 2014 and Feb 2015, so October 2014 born will be P1 on 2019. So October born children start school in the August 5 years after their birth year.

2012 plus 5 is 2017, so would have started P2 in 2018.
2009 plus 5 is 2014, so would have started P5 in 2018.

Plus DS was born December 2008 and is in P6 (which beggars belief by the way). I suspect MadameJosephine thinks you're asking about Scotland to England, people in Scotland don't really say "Year whatever".

Cross post. I was counting on my fingers. I did think it would be odd to ask about English school years on the Edinburgh board. We do like a schools thread but there's a limit.

October 09 - primary 5.
October 12 - primary 2

Brilliant thank you all 😊 The youngest one is the most confusing. Depending on when we would move she could end up doing the ‘first’ year of school twice as her Birthday is June.
